William Frank "Bill" Weichler, 83, of Washington Township, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Nov. 24, 1939, in Braddock, to the late Adolph William and Dorothy May Dorricott Weichler. He was a graduate of North Braddock High School and went on to receive his certificate in management from Penn State University, New Kensington, and two scholarship awards from Westinghouse Technical School. Before retiring in 1999, Bill was employed for 37 years for Westinghouse Research and Development Center, working in Technical Services and Scientific Glassblowing, where he received many patents.He was an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, where he is known as Lord Baron Gwilym. Bill has been an Archer since 1956 and shot locally, state level and nationally, winning many awards. Later in life, he became a Medieval Archer. He was a member of the Railroad Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Weichler. Bill is survived by his children, Barbara Jean (Forrest) Hall, Dawn Weichler and William A. (Kathy) Weichler; grandchildren, Jess (Seth Kenlon) Weichler, April Hall, Stephenie (Jeff) Carle, Travis Weichler, Chelsie Plotkowski and Conner Weichler; great-grandchildren, Xavier Stewart and Elliot Bruce; sister-in-law, Olivia Weichler; and niece, Linesay Weichler. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, in the JOSEPH J. CARDARO FUNERAL HOME, 1125 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, 724-337-3325.
