Thomas Richard "Rich" Litz Sr., 82, New Kensington, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, with his loving family at his side. He was born January 11, 1940, in New Kensington, to the late John Joseph & Wilda Jane Schlabig Litz. Rich was a 1957 graduate of Ken-High and was a US Air Force Veteran. He was employed for 25 years as a computer program analyst for Thrift Drug in RIDC Park. Rich is a lifetime member of 45 years of the New Kensington Fire Department, Engine Company #5, the Eagles Aerie 533, where he enjoyed shooting pool, especially with his brother, the Ezekiel 37 Prayer Group, and St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church, all of New Kensington. He enjoyed gardening, planting all his tomatoes from seed, driving his convertible, vacations with his family, and being a gamer, especially with his grandchildren. Rich was known for his unique sense of humor, being great at trivia, and loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Ross Allen Litz. Rich is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rena Householder Litz; children, Resa (David) Bilbie, Raymond (Theresa) Litz, and T. Richard (Ann) Litz Jr.; brother, John (Patty) Litz; grandchildren, Shannon Glazier, Rebecca (Andrew) Viancourt, Amanda (Nicholas) Testa, Emily (Jessica) Lee, Josh (Brittany) Bilbie, Kirsten Litz, and Rhiannon Litz; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in the Joseph J. Cardaro Funeral Home, 1125 Kenneth Ave. New Kensington, 724-337-3325. Prayers of Transfer will be at 9:30 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lower Burrell. New Kensington Fire Department will hold a memorial service in the funeral home at 6:30 PM on Tuesday.
