Sandra "Sandy" R Kvortek, 76, of Vandergrift, a devoted wife, mother grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Born in New Kensington, PA to the late Wendell and Maude (Gooding) Coulter, Sandy will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She dedicated her life to her family and friends, always there with an open table and warm cup of coffee to offer support and a listening ear to those that needed it. She enjoyed dancing, cooking and crafts. She enjoyed traveling to many places with her family to see and experience new sights and experiences. Sandy was also a big supporter of her grandchildren's many sports and activities – cheering from the stands and always being there afterward for a hug to congratulate them.
Her professional career started when she attended the Salvation Army College for Officer Training in New York City. After graduating, she served many communities throughout Pennsylvania. She ultimately chose to continue her education in nursing and graduated with her LPN license from Citizens Nursing school in New Kensington and later received her RN Associates from St. Margaret's Hospital nursing program. She worked at several hospitals in the Pittsburgh area – retiring from Allegheny Valley in Natrona Heights.
In addition to her parents, Sandy is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Golembiesky.
Sandy is survived by her husband, William J Kvortek, Jr; her children, David (Kelly) Golembiesky and Lisa (John) Vozar; stepdaughter, Kathleen (Brian) Kelly; grandchildren, Alexandria and Taeghan Golembiesky, Gabriella and Archer Vozar and Alexander Kelly; her sisters, Joan Bass and Marlene Kumpf; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM on Monday, October 14, 2024, in the Joseph J Cardaro Funeral Home, 1125 Kenneth Avenue, New Kensington, 724-337-3325. A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in the funeral home with Reverend Dean Ward officiating. Private burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
