Robert 'Bob' Shepard, 83, formerly of New Kensington, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, on his 34th wedding anniversary upon arrival at Martin Medical Center in Stuart, Fla. Born June 3, 1933, in New Kensington, we was the son of the late Francis G. 'Bud' and Violett F. 'Vipp' Powell Shepard. Bob was a graduate of Ken-Hi in the class of 1951 and also graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving 16 months overseas in the Medical Corps. He worked alongside his father at Shepard and Co., later to be the Walley and Shepard Co., in New Kensington from 1957 to 1988. In 1983, he became the owner and operator, working there until his retirement in 1999. Bob was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 644 of New Kensington and Lower Burrell, the Masonic Shrine and Consistery, both of Pittsburgh, the American Legion Post 868 of Lower Burrell, the Freeport Area Enterprise, the Salvation Army Board, the River Forest Yacht Club and other various insurance and real estate boards of state and local organizations. Bob was an avid boater and enjoyed golfing and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gloria J. Kiro Shepard; his daughters, Darbee (David) Percival, Stacee Shepard and Lauree (Bruce) Palmer; his sons, the Rev. Shawn (Jennifer) and Darrell (Cheryl) Morgan; brother- and sister-in-law, Joe and Judy Cardaro; and grandchildren, Alexa Corsello and Austin, Noah, Zane, Dylan and Olyvya Morgan. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at JOSEPH J.
