Mary Margaret Shoop, 91, of Springdale, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, in UPMC St. Margaret Hospital. She was born September 27, 1930, in New Kensington, to the late John & Margaret Conway George. Mary grew up in Springdale and was a 1948 graduate of Springdale High School. She worked for the former Gimbles Department Store, Pittsburgh, Action Industries, Harmar Twp., and Contravis Industries, Blawnox, before retiring in 1991. Mary was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church, Springdale, since 1950. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin F. Shoop; sister, Sharon; granddaughter, Marie Thimons; and grandson, Jason Snyder. Mary is survived by her children, Susan Murphy, Kim Snyder and Darwin T. (Mary Jane) Shoop; brothers, John (Lois) George and Charles George; sisters, Elizabeth Sowers, Sally (Marshal) Truax and Donna (Pete) Alcorn; sister-in-law, Sarah Belli; grandchildren, Melissa, Damien, Adrianna, Abagail, Rachel, Matthew, Victoria and Darwin A.; and numerous great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, 600 Pittsburgh St., Springdale, PA 15144. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00 AM with Lay Minister, Brad Ferko officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Cheswick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in loving memory of Mary to St. Marks Evangelical Church at the above address.
