Mary Caputo, 96 of New Kensington, formerly of Trafford, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at UPMC Seneca Place, Verona. She was born on December 2, 1925, to the late Phillip and Helen Mangene Joseph. A graduate of Penn Township High School, Mary was a gifted artist, seamstress and Italian cook. She was a valued employee of Kaufmann's Department Store for 45 years. Mary was the kindest, most cheerful person anyone ever knew. She was a member of St. Regis Catholic Church, Trafford, and then Mt. St. Peter Church, New Kensington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1970; her son, Dr. Frederick Caputo on Friday, August 19, 2022; her brothers, Angelo, Albert and Gene Joseph; and sister and best friend, Gilda Burkhardt. Mary is survived by her daughter-in-law, Maureen (Nee) Caputo; and grandsons, Michael (Isolde Chae-Lawrence) Caputo and Daniel (Autumn) DeChurch. The family is eternally grateful to the staff of Community Life and Seneca Place, who took such good care of Mary and helped the family in endless ways. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Mt. St. Peter Church, New Kensington.
