Josephine A. Guy, 69, of New Kensington, passed away on August 15, 2023, in Pittsburgh, PA with her daughter and brother at her side. She was born on March 5, 1954, in New Kensington, to the late Joseph John & Mary Gentile Salvati Sr. Josephine was a compassionate and selfless individual who dedicated her life to serving others.

She graduated from Valley High School in 1972. Throughout her lifetime, Josephine held various jobs, but her true passion was for the Community Health Clinic in New Kensington. She worked tirelessly to help the clinic achieve FQHC status, enabling them to provide free healthcare services to countless patients. In recognition of her remarkable efforts, Josephine was honored with the Jefferson Award for Public Service in 2002. She lived to serve. Whether it was helping someone with their taxes or volunteering for local charities in New Kensington, she was always giving her time to those in need. When Josephine was not helping in the community, she cherished spending time with her two grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Robert Salvati.

Josephine is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa (Guy)Kolowitz; son-in-law, Brian Kolowitz; her cherished grandchildren, Claire and Isaac Kolowitz; siblings, Raffaelina Salvati, Francie Pattinato, Frank Salvati, Marianne Suschak-Matvey, and Joseph Salvati Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, in the Joseph J. Cardaro Funeral Home, 1125 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, 724-337-3325. A blessing service will be held immediately following the visitation at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Josephine's memory to Catholic Charities, Veteran Organizations, or the Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center.
