John “Jocko” Shaw, 93, of Lower Burrell, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. He was born on October 5, 1932, in Arnold, to the late Warren M. and Margaret Seddon Shaw. Jocko was a 1950 graduate of Arnold High School and a 1958 graduate of Penn Technical Institute. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War, and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Church, New Kensington. Jocko was a passionate fan of all Pittsburgh Sports teams and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Pedatella) Shaw; brothers, Warren “Red” and Richard Shaw; and sister-in-law, Vera Shaw. Jocko is survived by his sons, Gregory (Lisa) Shaw and Jeffery (Marianna Shaw; grandsons, Taylor, Eric, Nathan and Ryan; granddaughter, Rachael; great-grandsons, Theo and Luca; great-granddaughters, Avery and Adalyn; sister-in-law, Barbara Shaw; companion, Louise Hess; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in St. Joseph Church, New Kensington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lower Burrell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in loving memory of Jocko to St. Joseph Church, c/o Mount St. Peter Church, 100 Freeport Rd. New Kensington, PA 15068. www.cardarofuneralhome.com
