James Anthony Rawlinson, 85, of Lower Burrell, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023, in UPMC Family Hospice at Canterbury Place, Lawrenceville. He was born in New Kensington to the late Harry and Eleanor McIntyre Rawlinson. James graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in art education. As a free-lance artist, he worked in all media, including oil, watercolor, charcoal, and particularly enjoyed doing pastel portraits. Some of his other passions included photography, camping, fishing, hiking and extending the life of old cars. He was a favorite uncle to all the nephews and nieces and will be sorely missed. James was a veteran and served in the US Army. He was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, New Kensington. James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Kulick Rawlinson; son, Mark Rawlinson; sister, MaryAnne Hartung; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 10:30 to 12:30 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in the Joseph J. Cardaro Funeral Home, 1125 Kenneth Ave. New Kensington, 724-337-3325. Prayers of Transfer will be immediately following the visitation at 12:30 PM in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM in St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, New Kensington. Private burial will be in the National Cemetery of The Alleghenies, Bridgeville, with full military honors.
