Emma Jean Baylor Crissman, 98, of Allegheny Township, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 4, 2023. She was born November 5, 1924, in Applewald PA, daughter of the late John and Helen (Wilmot) Baylor. Emma married her teenage sweetheart, Robert Crissman on April 29th, 1943. They were married 69 years at the time of his death in 2012
Emma was a devout Christian, who was a member of the First Baptist Church in Apollo. She was a dietary aide at West Haven nursing home for 8 years, where she made many friends and great memories. Emma bowled in a league at Lee's Lane for many years. No matter where she was or what she was doing she always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say. Emma enjoyed camping and visiting flea markets and garage sales where she found many treasures. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family, and she was still playing at 98 years old. Emma resided at Allegheny Township for 60 years and Freeport Towers for the last 3 years where she spent her time visiting with her best friend of 70 years, Thelma Reitz. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Crissman; son in law, Gene Powers; daughter in law, Donna Crissman; a sister, Joy Crissman; three grandsons, Brian Crissman, David Lowers and Scotty Voelker; and a great grandson, Brian Crissman.
She is survived by 5 children, Robert (Karen) Crissman, of Baxter, John Crissman, of Allegheny Township, Dianna Powers of Murrysville, Grace (Paul) Martino of Walston and Karen (Jerry) Voelker, of Richmond; a sister Ruth Budosh of Hyde Park; two brothers, Ward (Eileen) Baylor, of Avonmore, and Paul Baylor, of Apollo; and Emma's pride and joy were her 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service for Emma at 11:30 AM, on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Brookland Cemetery, 2432 White Cloud Rd., Leechburg (Allegheny Township). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in loving memory of Emma to The Wounded Worriers Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org
