Obituary

Elsie Buss, 90, of Natrona Heights, passed away in her home on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, with her daughters and family at her side, and with her late-husband, Robert, nearby in spirit. Elsie was born April 6, 1933, in Canonsburg, to the late Lena and Battista Tonelli. She attended Cecil High School. An incredible force of a woman, Elsie was never seen standing idly by as she was constantly on her feet raising her six daughters alongside her husband, Robert "Bussy" Buss. Having married Robert in 1955, the two spent their time creating lasting memories for themselves and their daughters. Later in life, she became a loving grandmother and watched as her 17 grandchildren spent their summers swimming and laughing at her house. Never one to shy away from the duties of motherhood, Elsie played a key role in the upbringing of her grandchildren and will be dearly missed by each one. Elsie and Robert proved quite a formidable duo; as Robert grew and nurtured their yard into an oasis, Elsie took great joy in finding the perfect lights to enhance and highlight the hard work of her husband. The two also spent time in Italy, and Elsie would go on to speak fondly of their travels together long into her golden years. Nothing put a smile on Elsie's face more than a glass of wine or a bowl of ice cream, and she passed that trait down through her lineage. Elsie will now finally find peace as she reunites with her husband in heaven. A special thanks to Janet Norris and Rochelle Battistone, two dedicated friends of whom Elsie highly regarded. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her brother, Robert (Marsha) Tonelli. She is survived by her brother, Al Tonelli; and sister, Nini Tonelli. In addition, she is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Jug) Moser, Leslie (Chuck) Faish, Lori (Tom) Killmeyer, Jayne (Jerry) Potts, Rose (Don) Nelson and Jennifer Buss; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. At Elsie's request, no funeral service will be held. A private memorial service will be held for family at St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport. Arrangements were entrusted to the JOSEPH J. CARDARO FUNERAL HOME, New Kensington, 724-337-3325. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude. www.cardarofuneralhome.com.
