Darrell William "Chet" Hastie Sr., 71, of New Kensington, passed away March 11th, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born August 23, 1953. Darrell was a graduate of Valley High School, where he was a member of the track team. His passion was playing the drums. Darrell was in several bands in his younger days and got back together in 2007 with band members to form Senior Moments. He worked in the Tunnelton Coalmine and went on to become a bulk operator at Glenshaw Glass, where he retired. Darrell was the son of the late Benny Thornton and Marion Craig, and was raised by his grandparents, the late Sonny and Ann Hastie. He was proceeded in death by his siblings, Charles Johnson, Carlius Johnson, Diane Thornton, Dora Stevenson, and Benny Thornton. Darrell was the father to Timika Hastie, Frederick (Akiko) Clay, Darrell (Katie) Hastie Jr, Taiesha Hastie, Moriah (Charles) McMunn, Nico Hastie and Nia Hastie; brother to Regena Johnson and Alfred Dorsey; grandfather to 20 grandchildren; and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, March 29 at 11 AM at Crosspoint Church, 2581 Freeport Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
