Daniel Edwin Witherup

Daniel “Dano” Edwin Witherup, 70, of Arnold, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in Harmar Village Health and Rehab Center, Cheswick. He was born July 17, 1955, in Freeport, to the late George and Betty Snyder Witherup. Dan was a 1973 graduate of Freeport High School, attended Edinboro College and graduated from Butler County Community College with a degree in business management. Early in his career he worked as a railroad conductor for Conrail. Dan then spent over 35 years in management roles with several auto parts retailers, one of which was Advance Auto, where he met his wife, Cindy. Additionally, he worked in Carlisle for seven years. Dan enjoyed watching dirt track racing at Lernerville and later in life he participated in Go Kart racing with his sons and grandchildren winning many racing awards. He volunteered for Outreach Arms, feeding the homeless every Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Dan enjoyed tinkering in the garage with his vehicles, attending car show and traveling to the beach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Hartman Witherup. Dan is survived by his sons, Jeremiah (Emily Shank) Witherup and Josh (Ashley) Hartman; sisters, Barb Witherup and Kathy Shearer; grandchildren, Alexa, Devon and Kaylie Witherup, Olivia “Lambo Libby” and Ryder Hartman; great grandson, Mason Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8:00 on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in the Joseph J. Cardaro Funeral Home, 1125 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, 724-337-3325.
