Catherine Murar, 89, of Lower Burrell, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 2, 1927, in Natrona Heights, daughter of the late M. Francis and Ethel Hall Griffin. Cathy was a graduate of Tarentum High School. She was employed as an outside sales rep for Globe Auto Parts in Russellton. Cathy enjoyed going to happy hour with her good friend, Pauline, on Fridays at Mogies. She enjoyed Big Band music and dancing, but always kept up to date on the new music. She loved doing calligraphy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Murar, and her sister, Esther Bricker. She is survived by a daughter, Donna (Frank) Martinek; a son, Francis (Marianne) Murar; grandchildren, Ronald Martinek and April (Sterling) Hayes; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Ava and Tye Hayes; and a granddog, Harley. As per Cathy's wishes, all services were private. An Irish wake to celebrate her life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the VFW Post 92, Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell. Arrangements are entrusted to the Joseph J. Cardaro Funeral Home.
