Obituary

Bernice M. Misczak, 91, of New Kensington, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023, in The Seasons of Saxonburg. She was born March 24, 1931, in New Kensington, to the late Adam & Julia Wanowicz Jaracz. Bernice was a lifelong member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, where she was also a member of the Christian Mothers Society. After working for over 20 years at Keystone Box in Blawnox, she retired to the warmth of winters in Florida. Bernice and her late husband, Frank "Shorty" Misczak were able to live the "Snowbird" lifestyle for over 30 years. She enjoyed the company of friends and family at the casinos, bingo, playing cards, dominos, or just dining and talking. (Did I say talking?) However, Bernice's legacy is one of caring and love of family. Affectionately known as Choci Be Be, she took on the blended role of mother, caregiver and friend to her numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to the parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Shorty" Misczak; her brother, Adam Jaracz; and her sister, Dorothy "Dot" Bossio. Bernice is survived by her sisters, Betty Foryt and Joan Langer; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in the Joseph J. Cardaro Funeral Home, 1125 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, 724-337-3325. The Christian Mothers will conduct a service at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. Prayer of Transfer will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, February 2, 2023, in the funeral home, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 Am at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, New Kensington. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Bernice's family would like to thank the Seasons of Saxonburg and Monarch Hospice for the excellent care and compassion provided to her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in loving memory of Bernice to St. Mary of Czestochowa Church. www.cardarofuneralhome.com
